Emeka Anyaoku will unveil top Nigerian leaders to coordinate the National Political Summit focused on constitutional reforms and national unity.

Former Commonwealth Secretary-General and statesman, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, will unveil a high-level Coordinating Committee for the upcoming National Political Summit of Nigeria on May 1, 2025, in Lagos.

The summit, scheduled for May 28–29, aims to chart a new path for constitutional democracy in the country.

The summit, themed “Actualising a Constitutional Democracy That Works for All in Nigeria”, comes as a national response to the country’s persistent insecurity, instability, and demands for inclusive governance.

It is being convened by The Patriots and the Nigerian Political Summit Group (NPSG), with a core objective to propose a new Stakeholders’ Legislative Bill for constitutional reforms.

According to the organisers, the unveiling event will hold at FRA Williams Chambers in Ilupeju, Lagos, at 10 a.m. sharp.

The committee will be led by Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal as Co-Chairmen, alongside a distinguished group of former governors, ministers, legislators, civil society leaders, and professionals.

“This summit is our collective intervention in the quest for a secure and united Nigeria, built on a constitution that reflects the will of the people,” said Olawale Okunniyi, Head of the Joint Secretariat, National Political Summit.

The committee includes prominent figures such as Donald Duke, Boni Haruna, Kayode Fayemi, Labaran Maku, Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu, and Prof. Pat Utomi.

Their task is to coordinate national consultations and prepare for the May summit, which will culminate in the presentation of a people-driven constitutional bill to the Federal Government.

As Nigeria marks 25 years of uninterrupted civil rule, this initiative seeks to build consensus on a governance structure that fosters unity, justice, and equitable development.

The press and public are invited to witness the unveiling, with accreditation required for media participation.
