Benue tragic incident involving alleged live burial, murder was arrested with eight suspects as police detain individuals over killing of 32-year-old man in Kwande LGA
Authorities in Benue State, Nigeria, on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, arrested eight individuals in connection with the alleged killing of 32-year-old Nyamkyegh Mpalegh, who was reportedly beaten and buried alive in Kwande Local Government Area.

Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident, stating that the attack occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on 27 April in Tse-Bata community, located in Mbakyagher Council Ward, under circumstances that have been described as deeply disturbing and violent.
The murder arrest eight suspects, case has drawn widespread attention following reports that the victim was first assaulted and severely beaten before being buried in what investigators are treating as a highly suspicious and brutal killing.
According to security sources, operatives swiftly responded to distress reports from the community, leading to the arrest of eight suspects believed to have played various roles in the incident.
The victim’s remains were later recovered from a shallow grave and transferred to a mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to assist ongoing investigations into the cause and circumstances of death.
Authorities have described the development as tragic and are intensifying efforts to uncover the motive behind the killing, while ensuring that all individuals found culpable are brought to justice.
