Following a prestigious debut at the Lagos International Theatre Festival, a phenomenal, sold-out 20-show Christmas run in Lagos, and a successful international tour in Pretoria, South Africa in partnership with the South African State Theatre, Dear Kaffy is set to captivate Lagos audiences once again.

Directed by the acclaimed Bolanle Austen-Peters, the “Queen of Theatre in Nigeria,” Dear Kaffy – Kike’s Story will be staged live at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, from April 18–21 and April 26–27, 2025, with two shows daily at 3PM and 7PM.

Dear Kaffy – Kike’s Story offers a heartfelt and relatable narrative centered on Kikelomo Olota (Kike), a brilliant 35-year-old Lagos woman navigating the complexities of love, identity, family pressures, and societal expectations.

Celebrated for her academic achievements from a young age, Kike often felt like an outsider amongst her peers due to her lack of romantic experience. In her desire to fit in, she prioritized popularity over authenticity, leading her into a series of complicated relationships.

The play follows Kike’s journey through encounters with Femi, the charming manipulator; Emeka, the seemingly perfect man with a hidden marriage; and the mounting pressure from her parents, particularly her father, which leads her to Debo, a promising new suitor.

“The quality of storytelling and performance in Dear Kaffy is excellent, it sells itself,” says Bolanle Austen-Peters, founder of BAP Productions. “This play gives a voice to the everyday African woman while celebrating her strength and vulnerability. We are honoured to bring it back home for Easter.”

Just as Kike begins to open her heart again, her past resurfaces with the return of her ex, Tamuno, igniting emotional turmoil and forcing her to confront her history.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Lagos, Dear Kaffy delves into the intricate emotional landscape of a modern African woman.

Through a blend of humor, music, and sharp social commentary, the play challenges cultural norms and celebrates the courage required to embrace authenticity over conformity.

Produced by Mrs. Bolanle Austen-Peters, this theatrical masterpiece features a stellar cast including Uzo Osimkpa as Kike, alongside Yewande Osamein (Tolani), Abiola Lepe (Bidemi), Sharon Onyegbula (Shalewa), Ralph Okoro (Tamuno), Hector Amiwero (Debo), Obiora Maduegbuna (Debo), Floyd Igbo (Femi), the veteran Bimbo Manuel as Father, and Bukola Ogunnote as Mother.

The production also boasts a talented crew, with Ikenna Jude Okpala as Stage Manager and musical direction by Kehinde Oretimehin and Deji Aremu.

Returning to its origins in Lagos, Dear Kaffy promises a revitalized and enriched experience, building upon the emotional depth that captivated audiences across Nigeria and South Africa.

Whether experiencing it for the first time or returning for another dose of laughter and tears, Dear Kaffy guarantees a soulful, hilarious, and unforgettable Easter theatrical experience.
