The presiding bishop of the Living Faith Church International, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said that those insulting him for rejecting the Company and Allied Matters Acts (CAMA) are wasting their time.

The cleric made the disclosure while delivering a sermon tagged: “Breaking Limits” on Tuesday, August 18, adding that negative remarks do not influence his actions, The Cable reports.

It would be recalled that many Nigerians on social media, including a presidential aide had criticized Oyedepo over his position on the law after he kicked against the application of CAMA in churches.

Oyedepo while noting that when people insult him he enjoys it, added that he would be a fool if he stopped going to work.

He said: “Anybody insulting me is wasting his time. One, I didn’t hear. Two, even if I heard, it won’t pain me. Anybody praising me is expressing his opinion. One, I didn’t hear. And even if I heard, it won’t blow my head because if you praise anything in me, it is Jesus.”

Oyedepo went on to note that no one has the power to determine the number of worshippers in the church. According to him Winners’ Chapel, as of Sunday, August 16, recorded 520 new parishes adding that no policy can stop its growth.

Earlier, we reported that Oyedepo rejected the application of the law when he addressed members of his congregation on Sunday, August 16.

According to him, the government is jealous of the prosperity recorded by the church. He argued that it is not right to subject God’s heritage on earth (churches) to the same laws as companies.

Recall that on August 7, President Muhammadu Buhari signed CAMA into law. The law stipulates that religious bodies and charity organisations will be strictly regulated by the registrar-general of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and a supervising minister.

In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide Lauretta Onochie tackled the presiding bishop of the Living Faith Church International.

Onochie in reaction to Oyedepo’s rejection of the new regulation law on religious bodies said if the statement faulting the federal government’s move is truly credited to him, then the time has come for the cleric to manufacture his own country.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians have backed her criticism of the respected cleric. According to Ade Adegboro, the comment credited to Oyedepo is unfortunate.
