CDS Olufemi Oluyede Christmas message urges unity, peace and welfare improvement for Armed Forces personnel nationwide

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence, and a renewed commitment to national progress in his Christmas message issued on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

General Oluyede highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel, including enhanced healthcare, better accommodation, timely payment of allowances, and support for families of deceased personnel.

He emphasised that ensuring the well-being of service members remains a top priority for the Armed Forces leadership.

“To consolidate the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria through enhanced jointness, reinforced operational posture, and improved welfare efforts is central to guaranteeing Nigeria’s sovereignty and prosperity,” General Oluyede said.

The defence chief also commended frontline troops deployed across various operational theatres for their courage, discipline, and professionalism during the festive season.

He praised Nigerians for their resilience and patriotism, noting that public cooperation remains essential to achieving sustainable peace and security.

General Oluyede urged all personnel to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and purposeful service during the Christmas season.

He called on citizens to promote peace, tolerance, and unity across ethnic, religious, and cultural lines, describing Nigeria’s diversity as a national strength.

He further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the Armed Forces and reiterated the need for continued collaboration among security agencies to tackle ongoing security challenges across the country.

The Chief of Defence Staff’s message underscores the Armed Forces’ commitment to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty while fostering stability and social cohesion during the festive period.
