Christian Eriksen collapse Ukraine friendly sees Denmark midfielder receive treatment after brief unconsciousness during match in Odense

Christian Eriksen was reported to have briefly collapsed during Denmark’s international friendly against Ukraine on Sunday in Odense, prompting immediate medical attention from team officials and raising fresh concern around the midfielder’s health history.

The Danish Football Association confirmed that the 34-year-old midfielder was conscious and in stable condition following the incident, which occurred during the match and led to a temporary halt in play as medical staff intervened.

In a statement shared on social media, the association said Eriksen was “doing well under the circumstances,” reassuring supporters that the situation had been quickly managed on the pitch.

The incident is understood to have occurred during the second half of the friendly, which brought a tense atmosphere to the stadium as players and spectators reacted with visible concern.

According to Denmark national team doctor Morten Boesen, Eriksen was briefly unconscious but recovered quickly and was able to walk off the pitch without assistance, a development described as cautiously reassuring.

“Christian is doing well and walked off the pitch by himself. As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should,” Boesen said.

Boesen added that medical staff immediately established contact with Eriksen, who regained consciousness shortly after the episode.

He confirmed that the player was taken for further hospital evaluation to determine the cause of the incident.

“He will now undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident. We are in ongoing contact with him and the doctors at the hospital,” Boesen said.

The doctor also relayed a message from Eriksen to his teammates, noting that the midfielder had asked to send his regards and assure them he was fine.

The latest Christian Eriksen collapse Ukraine friendly development comes five years after the midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest during a European Championship match against Finland in 2021, an incident that led to the installation of a heart device and a remarkable return to professional football.

Sunday’s episode has once again placed attention on the player’s medical condition, although officials have stressed that his current state is stable and under close observation.

The Danish Football Association has stated it remains in constant communication with medical teams as further examinations are conducted, while supporters across Europe have flooded social media with messages of concern and support.

Authorities have not indicated whether the friendly will be affected, but the focus has shifted firmly to Eriksen’s recovery and the outcome of ongoing medical assessments.
