Thirty-one political parties in Adamawa State have come together to recognise Dr. Umar Ardo, leader of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction – rPDP – for ‘standing in defence of democracy.’

Addressing journalists in Yola on Wednesday, the spokesman of the chairmen of the 30 political parties in the state, Comrade Ja’afar Baba Gire, said the parties were impressed by Ardo’s unrelenting struggle to entrench internal democracy in the party system.

Ardo, a leading voice in the PDP, has on many occasions opposed decisions by the PDP at state and national levels, instituting court cases that sometimes ended at the Supreme Court.

The political parties are APDA, ASD, ANN, DA, GPN, NCP, WTPN, PRP, NNPP, JMPP, PANDE, MPN, UPC, PDM, ANDP, APN, CNP, AD, NDCP, NPC, ZM, APP, PTP, ACCORD, ACD, NDLP, NPM, AA, MRDD, JMPP and NCP.
