Foundation to promote sustainable agriculture

The Intergenerational Rescue Foundation has announced Agroween 2024, an event to promote agriculture and sustainable farming practices.

According to the IRF, Agroween is an annual event, aimed at celebrating Nigeria’s food, agriculture, innovation, and sustainability.

The Chief Operating Officer of IRF, Bimbola Bolaji-Aghahowa referred to Agroween as a revolutionary initiative and noted that concerns of food insecurity, shortage, wastage, and hunger would be addressed at the event.

Bolaji-Aghahowa said the event would bring together stakeholders in the food and agricultural industry, including young farmers, researchers, food entrepreneurs, and agribusinesses.

She said the IRF’s vision was towards a new generation of farmers, entrepreneurs, and sustainability advocates all working for a food-secure and sustainable future.

The IRF COO said Agroween 2024 would feature exhibitions, equipment displays, parades and interactive sessions on sustainable agricultural practices.

“The exhibitors would display their harvest, food, or farm produce and participate in programmes ranging from a bazaar, subsidised sale, auction or donation to Agroween food pantries stationed in our member schools, or other community food pantries of choice,” she added.

She explained that the top five exhibitors would receive special category prizes worth millions of naira.

While the Agroween event’s date is yet to be announced, the organisers said it is open to schools, agribusinesses, food entrepreneurs, food and beverage companies, and other individuals or agriculture enthusiasts who have invested in food and agriculture in any capacity.

“In whatever capacity you have been investing in food and agriculture, it is your time to get rewarded as you come on board this festive-like, innovative and fun-filled event,” Bolaji-Aghahowa said.

She mentioned the date and venue of the Agroween will be announced on its website and registration will be conducted on it.

“Agroween is open to all, including schools, agribusinesses, food entrepreneurs, food and beverage companies, and other individuals or agriculture enthusiasts who have invested in food and agriculture in any capacity. Register now at www.intergenerationalrescue.com or www.intergenerational.org and stay tuned for the date and venue announcement,” Bolaji-Aghahowa declared.

The maiden edition of Agroween was held in Lagos last year and was chaired by the

Chairman of LASACO, Chief (Mrs) Teju Philips and anchored by ace stand-up comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka.
