Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has confirmed his appearance before the All Progressives Congress Governorship Screening Committee in Abuja ahead of the party’s governorship primaries.

Hamzat disclosed this in a post shared on his X account on Saturday, stating that he had received clearance from the committee to proceed in the race.

“Today in Abuja, I appeared before the APC Governorship Screening Committee ahead of our party primaries,” he wrote.

“I am grateful for the clean bill of approval and clearance to move forward.”

The screening exercise, held in Abuja, forms part of the internal procedures of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s governorship selection process for the 2027 election cycle.

Hamzat described the process as part of a broader mission centred on governance, continuity, and inclusive development in Lagos State.

“This journey is about service and a commitment to all Lagosians,” the deputy governor stated.

“We have built a solid foundation and now we are ready to take the next step toward a greater and more inclusive Lagos.”

The development comes days after Hamzat formally submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

In an earlier statement shared on Thursday, the deputy governor said his ambition was driven by the desire to strengthen governance and improve opportunities for residents across the state.

“Today, I submitted my expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 gubernatorial election,” he wrote.

“This journey is about service, responsibility, and building a Lagos that works better for every family, every business and every person that calls this state home.”

Hamzat concluded his latest statement with a confident message signalling political readiness ahead of the APC primaries.

“The work continues and I am ready to keep moving forward with you,” he added.
