The Inspector-General of Police has directed a comprehensive investigation into the killing of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the Homicide section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja to conduct a detailed investigation into the alleged killing of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student at Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin. Abdulyekeen was reportedly killed on September 4, 2024.

A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the police officers involved in the incident—Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip, all attached to the Department of Operations, Kwara State Command—have been identified and detained for further investigation.
The IGP expressed his profound sadness over the tragic loss of Abdulyekeen, extending his condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased. He acknowledged the deep grief caused by this incident and assured the public that justice would be served.
Abdulyekeen, a National Diploma 2 student in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, was allegedly killed under mysterious circumstances in the Fate Area of Ilorin, the state capital.
