Kano Police Arrest Drug Dealers in coordinated raids recovering Tramadol and Cannabis Sativa across multiple locations in Kano State
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several suspected drug dealers following a series of intelligence-led operations that led to the recovery of substantial quantities of Tramadol and Cannabis Sativa across parts of the state on Monday.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Kano, noting that the operations were carried out by officers of the Special Intervention Squad and the Gezawa Police Division based on credible intelligence from members of the public.
In one of the operations, operatives arrested Abdulsalam Muhammad and Murtala Sani along Nassarawa GRA after they were allegedly found in possession of a Bagco sack containing illicit substances. Police said a subsequent inspection revealed 23 rolls of Tramadol, each containing multiple packs.
According to the statement, one of the suspects reportedly admitted during interrogation that the drugs were supplied by accomplices who are currently at large, prompting further investigations into the wider network.
In another operation in Gezawa, officers arrested Sama’ila Ado at a known black spot where he was allegedly selling Cannabis Sativa. Police recovered 130 wraps and half a block of the substance from the suspect.
A separate arrest was also made in the same area when Umar Salisu was found with 10 wraps of suspected cannabis and two bottles of rubber solution.
The police described the coordinated raids as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to disrupt drug distribution networks within Kano State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved, describing their professionalism as commendable.
He also praised residents for providing timely intelligence, describing community cooperation as a “crucial pillar” in combating drug-related crime.

Authorities confirmed that all suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations, while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the syndicate still at large.
