A 60-year-old man, Smart Agazie, was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Friday over alleged defilement of his stepdaughter.

Agazie, a businessman from Eleja, Badagry, Lagos, faces charges of sexual assault and rape.
Prosecutor ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court the offences occurred at Agazie’s residence in 2022 and September 2025.
According to the prosecution, the victim was first defiled at age 15 and allegedly raped again at 18.
The victim reportedly stayed silent due to death threats from Agazie but later spoke out, leading to his arrest.
The offences contravene sections 137 and 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Mrs Omolara Kushanu did not take the defendant’s plea but ordered that he remain in custody pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). The case has been adjourned to April 1.
