Lagos Police Arrest 26 suspects over counterfeit currency and adulterated diesel production in Lekki, following a joint raid with KAI

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on Friday confirmed that the Lagos Police Arrest of twenty-six male suspects followed a coordinated raid uncovering counterfeit currency operations and the production of adulterated diesel in the Eti-Osa and Lekki axis.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, the suspects were apprehended on 27 November at about 1330 hours in a joint enforcement operation carried out with officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline unit.

The Command said officers recovered counterfeit notes totalling ₦951,300 from the premises linked to the suspects.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command disclosed that preliminary investigations identified four suspects — Abubakar Rilean, Abubakar Abdullahi, Adamu Ibrahim Jora, and Michael John — as key actors in the production and distribution of adulterated diesel, locally referred to as “rice and beans.”

Two other individuals, Ichapi Moses and Samson Adike, were identified as suppliers of the adulterated petroleum products, which were allegedly sold to unsuspecting motorists in the area.

CP Jimoh warned that the Command would tighten operations across the state, stressing that officers were closing in on individuals engaging in activities capable of undermining public safety or economic stability.

He emphasised that anyone involved in endangering lives or damaging vehicles through such unlawful trades would face strict prosecution.

Reassuring Lagos residents, the Commissioner stated that the state remained secure and that the police would continue prioritising the safety and well-being of the public.

He urged citizens to support ongoing security operations with credible and timely information to aid crime prevention.
