Rotary District 9112 Governor, Rotarian Layi Abidoye, on Friday, July 17, 2026, inaugurated the 2026/2027 Evening With DG Committee in Nigeria, marking a significant step towards strengthening fellowship, collaboration and engagement among Rotarians across the district.

The inauguration ceremony formally introduced the committee, which will coordinate activities aimed at creating closer interaction between the District Governor and members while promoting a stronger culture of service within Rotary clubs.

The committee is chaired by Past President Benedict Ajike of the Rotary Club of Akute, who will lead efforts to deliver programmes that combine social connection, recognition and service-focused engagement.

Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Ajike said the Evening With DG programme was designed to provide Rotarians with opportunities for relaxation, networking and meaningful conversations beyond regular club activities.

“The committee’s core responsibility is to bring Rotarians together to interact with the District Governor while raising awareness and support for the district’s activities and goals,” Ajike said.

The initiative will also introduce recognition opportunities for clubs, individuals, corporate partners and supporters who demonstrate outstanding commitment to Rotary’s ideals.

Ajike explained that clubs will be evaluated based on key areas of Rotary performance, including contributions to The Rotary Foundation, Membership and New Club Development, Public Image, District Endowment and Welfare Fund (DEWEF), and District Support.

He added that the recognition system is expected to encourage healthy competition among clubs while inspiring members to increase their participation in community-focused projects.

“The events will promote punctuality, encourage excellence and celebrate Rotarians and partners who continue to support the growth and impact of Rotary,” Ajike said.

The Evening With DG Committee is part of District 9112’s broader strategy for the 2026/2027 Rotary service year, focusing on stronger relationships, improved communication and greater involvement among clubs.

Rotary District 9112 has continued to prioritise initiatives that bring members together while supporting humanitarian efforts, leadership development and community transformation.

With the inauguration of the committee, Layi Abidoye Rotary committee is expected to serve as a key platform for enhancing fellowship and creating lasting connections among Rotarians throughout the district.
