‘Lekki Massacre’ Tinubu reveals real sponsors of attack on his properties

The former governor of the state of Lagos Bola Tinubu has disclosed that he’s now aware of the perpetrators behind the attacks on some of his properties in Lagos State.

In a statement he released on Sunday, October 25th, 2020 titled “The End of Sars Protests; a fundamental lesson in democratic governance”, Tinubu said that the angry youths that set some of his properties ablaze were sponsored by his political opponent.

“I am indeed a promoter and financial investor of the Nation newspaper and the TVC. It was widely known and made public through the media that certain malicious elements were taking advantage of the situation to attack the Nation newspaper and the TVC facilities in Lagos.”

“The attackers arrived. Both facilities were seriously damaged. Although I was equipped with a warning of the imminent invasion, I did not call anyone to go to the army or the police or to ask for their intervention, let alone attack, kill or injure those who had razed and destroyed these properties to the ground. I did not want bloodshed.”

“These elements, mostly hired by my political opponents, wreaked havoc and destroyed these buildings and facilities, and I thank God that the staff of these two media institutions escaped largely unharmed.”

However, Tinubu noted that while damaged buildings and equipment can be rebuilt or replaced, there is no adequate compensation for the loss of a single human life.
