She shared her thoughts during an appearance on Unfiltered and Extra Spicy on Friday.
Afegbai described herself as naturally secretive, explaining that she does not feel obliged to share intimate aspects of her life with anyone, regardless of their closeness.
“In real life, I do not discuss my relationship or my private life with my friends,” she said.
“I am a very secretive person, and I do not care if you say I am not trustworthy, but I will not discuss my personal life with you.”
The actress attributed her guarded nature to unresolved childhood trauma, noting that past experiences shaped her trust issues over the years.
Afegbai revealed that she is currently undergoing therapy to confront these challenges, describing herself as a “work in progress.”
“I just have serious trust issues from childhood trauma. I am even tackling it now by seeing a therapist, and I am still a work in progress,” she added.
Despite an active social life and an outgoing personality, Afegbai clarified that being sociable does not imply emotional openness.
She explained that people often misinterpret her friendliness as deep accessibility.
“People assume because I have plenty of friends, they think I am close to everybody. I am not like that at all,” she said.
