‘Looted!’ Trouble looms for NGO, victim for tendering stolen properties as exhibits

A self-acclaimed non profit organization, known as the Advocate for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN) led by one Ebenezer M. Omejalile, has landed in serious mess following the recovery of some properties carted away by armed men in military uniforms reportedly hired by a lady, Kelechi Joseph, to attack her estranged lover, Gabriel Uzoma’s house in Ipaja area of Lagos State.

It is gathered that Police operatives at the SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, led by DCP Fayoade Adegoke, recovered two laptops as exhibits from Kelechi after she led the armed men, who invaded Gabriel’s flat and forced it open.

Initially, the group, ACVPN, attempted to mislead the Police and the public by alleging that Gabriel attempted to rape Kelechi after the parties met for the first time. But subsequent revelations have proved that they were lovers before they broke up over disagreement for Kelechi to live with Gabriel, which he declined.

During investigation, it was also discovered that Kelechi’s disagreement with Gabriel happened in April, 2021 and the invasion took place in June 2021. And there was no report of alleged attempted rape to the Police until the invasion, which was reported at Ipaja Division by Gabriel.

At the Police Station, Kelechi was said to have admitted that she hired the armed men and she was given N20,000 as her share of the loot. But she later ran to the group, ACVPN, to assist her because the Police found her culpable and had concluded arrangement to charge her before the Court.

It was at that point she claimed that Gabriel had attempted to rape with no proof except money transferred to Gabriel Uzoma’s account.

Findings at SCID, Panti, revealed that the major challenge for Kelechi now is to produce the camera stolen at Gabriel’s House, which she had made several promises to the Police and but was unable to do so giving suspicion that probably they may have sold the camera and shared the money.

The findings by the Police have really caused serious embarrassment to the ACVPN, which has now left Kelechi to her fate and exposed the organization’s reckless conduct in investigation of matters before taking any position.

An insight into the activities of the ACVPN has shown that the Coordinator, Ebenezer, was initially working with CPN before he formed the group with undisclosed persons and registered with CAC in order to attract foreign donors and make money.

According to their members, the group had been soliciting for funds by providing account details on the social media but no account has been rendered since it was formed some years ago.

When P. M. EXPRESS reporter contacted Ebenezer concerning the account of the group as demanded by their members, he did not respond to the message sent to him.
