Maiduguri bomb explosions leave several dead and many injured after simultaneous blasts at Monday Market and University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
An unspecified number of people are feared dead, while many others sustained injuries following bomb explosions at Monday Market and near a security post at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital on Monday evening.

The blasts reportedly occurred simultaneously at approximately 7:02 p.m., sending shockwaves across the city and leaving multiple casualties. Emergency responders and residents rushed to assist victims at both locations.
Confirming the incident, Mohammed Kafaran, Head of Operations of the Federal Fire Service in Borno State, said the agency had deployed teams to assess the situation. “Yes, there was a bomb explosion at the Monday Market area around Elkanemi. We have deployed our team there to assess the situation. We will get back to you shortly,” he stated.
Witnesses described chaotic scenes as injured persons were evacuated to hospitals for treatment. “There were dead bodies on the ground, and many persons with wounds have been rushed to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri,” one eyewitness said.
Another resident recounted the moment of the explosions. “I had just left the post office and was on my way when I heard a loud sound,” the resident said.

Authorities are continuing rescue operations and damage assessment, while further details are expected as emergency teams coordinate responses at the affected areas.
