The organisation did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding how the suspect was located or whether law enforcement had taken the individual into custody.
The case has drawn widespread attention since reports emerged that Okafor, a POS operator, was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered before her body was discovered in a body of water near the ShopRite area of Sangotedo in Lagos State.
The killing triggered outrage across social media, where campaigners, civil society organisations and members of the public have continued to demand a thorough investigation and swift prosecution of anyone found responsible.
The latest development has added momentum to the #JusticeForLoveth campaign, with supporters urging investigators to ensure that the case is handled transparently and that due process is followed.
Gender-based violence remains a significant concern in Nigeria, with advocacy groups repeatedly calling for stronger law enforcement, faster investigations and stricter prosecution of offenders.
Several recent high-profile cases have intensified demands for improved protection of women and greater accountability within the criminal justice system.
The DOHS Cares Foundation reiterated its demand for justice, stating: “This is the perpetrator’s face! He raped and killed Loveth Ifesinachi Okafor. #JusticeForLoveth.”
