The announcement was made in a statement by Major General Sumaila Uba, Director of Defence Information.
Investigations into the matter, which began in October 2025 following the arrest of sixteen officers for indiscipline and breaches of service regulations, have now been concluded.
The full report has been forwarded to the appropriate superior authority in accordance with existing regulations.
“The comprehensive investigation process examined all circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel. The findings identified a number of officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government, which is inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards required of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” the statement read.
Officers found with cases to answer will be formally arraigned before military judicial panels to face trial under the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.
The Defence Headquarters emphasised that the measures are strictly disciplinary, aimed at preserving order, discipline, and operational effectiveness within the military ranks.
