The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has explained how Nigerians can download their National Identification Number slips online for free through its NINAuth mobile application.
The commission outlined the process in a video shared on its official X account on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, showing how NIN holders can obtain the document without visiting enrolment centres or paying third-party agents.

According to NIMC, users can download their slips by following a few steps on the application.
First, they are required to download the NINAuth application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and open it on their mobile phones.
They should then select the “Do More with NINAuth” option and choose “NIN Slip” from the available services.
The next step is to complete the facial authentication process to verify their identities.
Following successful verification, users can select “Download NIN Slip” to generate and save the official document directly to their mobile phones.
The commission described the process as convenient and secure, stressing that the service is free and does not require users to visit its offices.
NIMC said the initiative was designed to make access to the identification document easier while reducing the need for physical visits to its facilities.
The commission launched the NINAuth platform in October 2025 to enable Nigerians to control access to their personal information across government, banking, telecommunications and education services.
In June 2026, it announced that NIN holders could download their official slips directly through the application at no cost.
Information published on the NINAuth website indicates that the downloaded slip is the same official document issued by NIMC and can be used at banks, government offices and other institutions where it is required.
The National Identification Number is an 11-digit unique identification number issued to Nigerians and legal residents after successful enrolment.
It helps establish and verify individual identities and links personal records to the National Identity Database.

Individuals who have yet to obtain a NIN are required to visit an NIMC enrolment centre, provide the necessary demographic information and undergo biometric registration, including fingerprint and facial capture.
