The incident reportedly arose from a property transaction involving Abosede’s 84-year-old mother, Amoke, who had recently sold a parcel of land to purchase a new property for a planned two-bedroom flat.
Kazeem Adebayo, who had helped sign the land sale documents, allegedly offered to assist in finding a suitable replacement property.
Authorities allege that on the day of the attack, Adebayo invited Abosede to his home under the pretext of handling the proceeds from the land sale, amounting to ₦530,000.
Once she arrived, he is reported to have struck her on the head with a heavy pestle, causing injuries that led to her death.
Following the assault, Adebayo reportedly buried Abosede in a shallow grave inside his room.
Investigators say he used ₦30,000 from the money to settle a debt and concealed the remainder in his ceiling.
Abosede’s mother, concerned when her daughter failed to return home, contacted Adebayo, who denied any knowledge of her whereabouts.
Amoke subsequently reported the case to local police authorities.
The investigation was later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Ijebu Igbo.
A search of Adebayo’s residence uncovered the shallow grave containing Abosede’s body, confirming the allegations and exposing the full extent of the crime.
