Olukayode brings hope to 50 widows on birthday

Rtn. Amb. Aderiyike Olukayode, Founder of the Olukayode Ariike Foundation, will mark her birthday on Monday, August 24, 2026, by providing food palliative support to 50 vulnerable widows in Lagos as part of a humanitarian outreach designed to bring relief, dignity and hope to women facing difficult circumstances.

Rather than centring the celebration solely on herself, Olukayode has chosen to make the occasion an opportunity to support women who may be struggling with the everyday realities of life.

The initiative, themed “Support a Widow, Put a Smile on Her Face,” is being promoted by the Olukayode Ariike Foundation as a charity and humanitarian intervention.

The foundation’s birthday campaign flyer shows food items prepared for the outreach, including rice, garri, vegetable oil, semovita, beans, tomato mix and other provisions.

The visual message is simple and deliberate: the birthday celebration is being transformed into a practical gesture of care.

In an appeal issued ahead of the programme, Olukayode said the foundation hoped to reach 50 vulnerable widows with food support, encouragement and the reassurance that they had not been forgotten.

“These beautiful women have faced different challenges in life, and I strongly believe that a little kindness, compassion, and support can bring hope to someone who may be going through a difficult season,” Olukayode said.

The planned outreach also gives the birthday celebration a deeper humanitarian purpose.

Instead of receiving gifts solely for herself, Olukayode is inviting individuals, families, organisations, corporate bodies and other well-meaning people to contribute towards the welfare of the beneficiaries.

The foundation has stressed that support does not have to be substantial to be meaningful.

“Every contribution, no matter how little, will make a meaningful difference,” Olukayode said in the appeal.

The food palliative intervention is particularly significant at a time when the cost of basic household provisions continues to place pressure on families across Nigeria.

For vulnerable households, food assistance can offer immediate relief while also communicating a sense of solidarity and community.

The initiative is also consistent with the foundation’s stated commitment to “serving humanity, one life at a time.”

The foundation has previously been involved in community-focused humanitarian activities.

In August 2025, the organisation participated in an outreach to Little Saints Orphanage in Abule Egba, Lagos, alongside Rotary partners, providing gifts and spending time with the children.

The forthcoming programme, however, places widows at the centre of the foundation’s attention.

The flyer for the August 24 event reinforces the personal nature of the initiative.

The message, “Together, we can make a difference,” connects Olukayode’s personal milestone with a wider appeal for collective compassion.

For the 50 widows expected to benefit, the significance of the programme may go beyond the value of the food items received.

The gesture offers an opportunity for the beneficiaries to feel remembered and supported during challenging circumstances.

Olukayode is therefore asking supporters to help make the birthday meaningful not simply through celebration, but through generosity.

The foundation has provided Sterling Bank account number 0140386335, under the name Olukayode Ariike Foundation, for individuals and organisations willing to support the initiative.

Further enquiries can be made through 0705 367 7036 or 0803 838 7100, while the foundation can also be reached via **Olukayodeariike@gmail.com.

As August 24 approaches, Olukayode’s birthday is shaping into more than a personal celebration. It is becoming a powerful reminder that milestones can also be used to lift others.

For the Olukayode Ariike Foundation, the hope is that 50 widows will leave the outreach with more than food. The larger aim is to leave them with a renewed sense of dignity, care and belonging.
