Osun Rally Stage Collapse sparks panic in Ijebu-Jesa as Governor Adeleke and others escape unhurt during political rally in Oriade LGA

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, and other political dignitaries narrowly escaped injury on Wednesday after a stage collapsed during a political rally in Ijebu-Jesa, Oriade Local Government Area, in what has been described as a frightening moment that briefly disrupted proceedings.

Osun political rally stage collapse occurred during the launch of the Imole Canvassers initiative, organised in support of Governor Adeleke by Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi.

Eyewitnesses said the structure gave way shortly after Governor Adeleke rose to address a large crowd of supporters gathered at the venue, triggering panic and a sudden rush among attendees.

A video circulating on social media captured the moment the stage collapsed, showing confused reactions as participants quickly moved away from the structure.

The footage has since generated widespread attention online.

Despite the dramatic incident, no injuries were recorded among the governor, deputy governor or other senior political figures present at the rally.

Security personnel and event organisers were quickly deployed to restore order at the scene.

Stage gives way at Osun rally prompted a brief suspension of activities, although calm was later restored as officials confirmed the safety of all dignitaries in attendance.

Honourable Bamidele Salam, who represents Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, later confirmed the governor’s safety in a social media post accompanied by photographs of the event’s principal figures.

In his post, Salam noted that the rally had earlier proceeded successfully before the unexpected disruption, describing the mobilisation effort as significant for the region’s political engagement.

Senior government sources also confirmed that Governor Adeleke and other officials left the venue without sustaining any injuries, while thanking supporters for their orderly response after the incident.

The rally later continued after a brief pause, with organisers assuring attendees of safety and urging calm following the collapse.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on what caused the structure failure, but the incident has raised questions about event safety standards at large political gatherings in the state.
