Oyo abduction tragedy: Teacher Michael Oyedokun reportedly killed after kidnapping sparks outrage and urgent calls for school security reform

Mr Michael Oyedokun, a teacher at Community High School, Oyo State, Nigeria, was on Monday, May 18, 2026, reportedly killed after being abducted alongside other school staff by armed men who stormed the school premises in a violent attack that has now escalated into an Oyo abduction tragedy.

The disturbing incident has triggered widespread outrage following the circulation of a video allegedly showing confirmation of his death after the kidnapping.

The Oyo abduction tragedy has left the education community in shock, with fears mounting over the safety of teachers and students in vulnerable rural areas.

According to emerging accounts, the armed assailants invaded the school and whisked away several staff members before fleeing the scene.

Mr Oyedokun was later reportedly identified in the aftermath, with sources indicating that he did not survive the ordeal.
