Speaking on the forthcoming episode of With Chude, hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade revealed that the players were still waiting for the pledged $100,000 each, announced by President Bola Tinubu after their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations victory in Morocco.
“We have not received our money oo. Please, they have not paid. All the promises you heard back and forth, we have not received anything,” Ajibade lamented.
She added that while the players were informed the funds had already been allocated, no payment had been made. Even their match bonuses, she said, remained pending.
The 24-year-old forward stressed that the delay was affecting morale and urged the relevant authorities to honor their promises.
Ajibade also reflected on her tough journey in football, revealing she played for FC Robo Queens in the Nigeria Women’s Football League for 10 years without earning a salary.
Growing up in Mushin, Lagos, she said she lived in “a compound of almost 100 people” and had to “wash people’s toilets and bathrooms for money” to survive.
The Super Falcons star began her professional career with FC Robo Queens before moving to Avaldsnes IL in Norway at 17, and later joined Atlético Madrid Femenino in 2021.
