A prominent Nigerian commentator, Reno Omokri, has criticized Arise TV, alleging that the network is not delivering news but promoting propaganda.

This accusations is coming amid a backdrop of contrasting narratives surrounding Nigeria’s economy and developments.

Omokri’s comments emerge as various positive reports circulate, such as Nigerians receiving passports in as little as three days, same-day passport services at Nigerian embassies abroad, federal civil servants receiving ₦35,000 wage support, and Nigerian banks experiencing remarkable profitability.

He also hammered in his conviction of the alleged TV’s station bias in being anti-government by revealing that the Fitch Ratings has also affirmed Nigeria’s economic stability, predicting a 3.2% expansion for the coming year.

However, Arise TV has offered a starkly different perspective, asserting that Nigeria’s economy is currently at an all-time low and has severely deteriorated.

“Nigerians are now reporting getting their passports within three days. Abroad, in our embassies, they are getting it on the same day. Federal civil servants are posting alerts of their ₦35,000 wage support. Nigerian banks are reporting record-breaking profitability. Dangote Group has just announced that they repatriated $687 million to Nigeria due to economic reforms making Nigeria more investor-friendly. Fitch Ratings has rated Nigeria’s economy as stable and expanding at 3.2% next year. In a diplomatic coup, the German Chancellor visited Nigeria for almost a week.

“Yet, despite all these, Arise Peoples Party says Nigeria’s economy is at an all-time low and has tanked. @AriseTV is not selling news. They are selling PROPAGANDA!” he wrote.
