Contrary to the rumor making the rounds that Governor Seyi Makinde’s convoy ran over a child during a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rally in Ogbomoso for the upcoming local government elections, multiple sources reaching out to Freelanews have debunked this accusation.
According to the reports, while it was true that an innocent 4year old girl was killed, there no truth in that it was connected with the state governor’s convoy.
“This is a false accusation and a shameless political attack on the office of the Governor to try and sabotage the upcoming election.
“The authorities have also found out that someone driving a Toyota Matrix ran over the child. And as the Governor’s convoy does not contain any Toyota Matrix, it couldn’t have been the Governor’s convoy that was responsible for the incident.
“Buttressing the fact that the rumours were malicious and perfect example of fake news, it has also been confirmed that the accident happened long before the arrival of the governor at the rally,” a source said.
Residents of Ogbomosho have been asked to remain calm and await the result of further investigation into the accident, as the culprit has been found and arrested. He was being held at Owode police station.
