The So-Safe Corps in Ogun State successfully apprehended a man allegedly terrorizing the Ala community in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state with a fake pistol. The suspect, identified as Daniel Iwalokun, a native of Ilaje, Ondo State, was reported to have been causing unrest in the community and instilling fear using a toy gun.

Moruf Yusuf, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the So-Safe Corps, confirmed the arrest on Monday. He disclosed that Iwalokun had been operating alone with the fake pistol, creating a sense of insecurity in the Ala community.

“The suspect, identified as Daniel Iwalokun, a native of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, was apprehended by the Ijebu Zonal Operation team of the Corps. The suspect had been instilling fear in the people, causing unrest in the said Ala community and using the fake pistol to achieve his criminal aims,” Moruf stated.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered item was indeed a toy gun, and the suspect has been acting independently. In response to the incident, the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, directed that the suspect and the fake pistol be transferred to the Obalende Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.

This development comes shortly after the So-Safe Corps arrested Kabiru Adedotun, a suspected notorious Eye Confraternity cultist, recovering a cut-to-size pistol from him. Adetoun and the seized exhibit were subsequently transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Monitoring Unit, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for further investigation and likely prosecution at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran.
