In a rare development, former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has called on Nigerian youths to ensure they get their PVC’s ahead of the 2023 general elections.
In a short message culled from his twitter handle and Facebook pages, the amiable former governor thanked Lagosians for the support he received during his time in office and went on to call on the youths not to take ownership of PVC’s for granted. This short message is regarded as a sharp rejection of the spirit of imposition and godfatherism is seen as a wake up call to the Nigerian youths not to undermine participatory politics.
Political observers see this recent statement by Ambode as not only an inspiration but a massive boost to INEC advocatory policies and a clarion call for a departure from the old ways of politics characterized by rigging “go get your PVC’s ready”.
His statement read:
After all we have been through, God has been faithful. Thank you for the overwhelming endorsement of our modest contributions to the growth of Lagos. It can only get better for Lagos, and indeed Nigeria. pic.twitter.com/HuuQHazaF4

Ambode served the state as governor from 2015 to 2019 but lost his re-election bid when the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, denied him the ticket. He was replaced by Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who went on to win the election.
