Toyota Nigeria unveils plans for fuel-efficient, hybrid vehicles amidst economic shifts

Toyota Nigeria Limited plans to introduce new fuel-efficient and hybrid/electric vehicles like the Urban Cruiser and Corolla Cross, along with a mini Land Cruiser, to address Nigeria’s economic situation and support green initiatives

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a strategic move to address Nigeria’s current economic climate and align with the Federal Government’s push for a greener environment, Toyota Nigeria Limited has announced its plans to introduce a range of new fuel-efficient and hybrid/electric vehicles into the Nigerian market.

The Managing Director of Toyota Nigeria Limited, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, made this announcement at a press conference held on Thursday in Lagos.

The briefing also marked the official opening of the second edition of an exclusive Toyota Motor Show at Lekki, where a diverse array of Toyota models, including the Land Cruiser, Hilux, Fortuner, Granvia, and Prado, were on display.

The show also featured genuine Toyota parts, motor oil, and the company’s body and paint shop, showcasing its comprehensive after-sales capabilities.

Speaking at the event, Ade-Ojo elaborated on the company’s forward-looking product strategy.

“For hybrid/electric introductions, we will be introducing the Urban Cruiser and Corolla Cross, hence supporting the Federal Government’s green initiative. We are going to be introducing more fuel-efficient vehicles with hybrids, having extra battery packs to allow your vehicle to go extra mileage,” he stated.

He further revealed exciting additions to their SUV lineup: “Another very key model is the mini Land Cruiser, which will come in later this year or early next year. It is slightly smaller than the RAV 4, but it is a four-wheel drive with a 2.4-liter engine.”

Ade-Ojo reaffirmed Toyota Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to offering a diverse range of models and maintaining exceptional customer service.

He highlighted that the ongoing motor show, which commenced on May 27 and runs until Sunday, June 1 (excluding Friday, May 30), provides customers with a unique opportunity to purchase select models at discounted rates and experience the company’s robust after-sales support firsthand.

In terms of future product introductions for the year, the MD mentioned, “Later on this year, we have some models coming up, the Starlet Cross, the SUV version, the new model Corolla Cross, new RAV4 will be coming towards the end of the year or early next year.”

He reiterated that these introductions are in strong support of the Federal Government’s Green Initiative, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
