UEFA have confirmed that the Champions League fixture between Linfield and KF Drita has been cancelled following a positive COVID-19 test.

The preliminary round fixture between the Northern Ireland side and the Kosovan club was due to take place on Aug. 11 in Nyon, Switzerland.

This is coming after a Drita player tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, having produced a negative COVID-19 test on Aug. 7.

The entire Drita squad also tested negative for COVID-19 prior to their arrival in Switzerland.

However, a UEFA statement read in part: “A player from KF Drita returned a positive result for COVID-19 following testing on the eve of their match against Inter Club d’Escaldes (AND) in accordance with the UEFA’s above-mentioned protocol.

“This player was put into quarantine, together with one teammate after traces found he had come into close contact with the affected player.

“This second positive test of a player who was in contact with other members of the delegation over the last days has prompted the Swiss authorities to put the whole Kosovan team into quarantine.
