US-based entrepreneur and holder of top 100 global leaders in transportation and automobile industry, Ayodeji Arojo, has clarified the reasons behind the N500,000 intervention fund doled out to Damilola Adeparusi, aka Chef Dammy, over the latter’s attempt to beat current world holder of cook-a-thon world record.
Arojo is the chief operating officer of Madison Metro Transit System, Wisconsin, USA.
In a release made available to Freelanews and signed by Arojo, it stated that his decision to help Adeparusi achieved her dream was in absence of any ulterior motives and borne out the love he has for his country, Nigeria.
“Our intervention in the Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy’s attempt at 120-hour cook-a-thon world record, was imperative and necessary considering her humble background and the inadequate support that should have been accorded her at the beginning of the cooking competition.
“Though I am equally from Ekiti state, I wish to put it on record that our involvement has nothing to do with tribal colouration or further ethnic profiling of the country. At this critical moment in our great country, we would rather support individuals or groups of disadvantaged youths to access a lease of life without favour or prejudice.
“Like every other Nigerian, our prayers that Chef Dammy becomes the new world record holder will not diminish the current champion but give more hope to Nigerian youths, especially ladies, in shattering more glass ceilings across the globe.
“Let me also use this avenue to make some corrections. We are not supporting Chef Dammy for a pecuniary advantage. Also, I am not a doctor but a transportation and safety expert. I am one of the top 100 Global Leaders in the Transportation and Automotive industry based in the US, and I love my country, Nigeria,” he said.

The transport professional also stated that the fund was only an icing of intervention cake he was baking for Chef Dammy.

“Our Five Hundred Thousand Naira donation to support Chef Dammy’s project is just the tip of the iceberg. The bigger picture is facilitating a cooking tour to the United States of America, the process that started immediately. The tour will also feature food tourism, as unique Naija delicacies will be showcased to the world. As events unfold, we shall keep the general public informed about the details of the US trip.
“It is equally essential to inform Nigerians of our pet project, which is non-profit, non-religious and non-political, aimed at encouraging creative and innovative thinking of Nigeria’s indigent youths. We believe this can be a great way to help them develop the skillset they need to succeed in life.
“The plan is to have a weekly review and select suitably qualified youth(s) through soon-to-be-announced digital platforms. Sometimes the assistance may be collaborative, but success would be the top priority.
“By providing access to education, offering mentorship and guidance, creating opportunities for experimentation, encouraging collaboration and co-creation, and celebrating success, we can help foster creativity and innovation among indigent youths- giving hope and abundant life to the disadvantaged,” he submitted.
