365 pieces of wrapped Cannabis Sativa, or Indian hemp, the size of pawpaws, were caught and taken by troops of the 35 Artillery Brigade in Alamala, Ogun State, during a noteworthy operation. A 25-year-old accused drug dealer named Fatai Bankole was also apprehended as a result of the operation.

This achievement was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday, January 13, 2024 by Brigadier General Mohammed Tajudeen Aminu, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade. The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, received the drugs on Thursday; they weighed about 176 kg.

According to Brigadier General Aminu, the suspect, Fatai Bankole, was apprehended during a routine patrol by troops on January 6, 2024, at Olodo Imeko along the Imeko-Abeokuta road in Ogun State.

The Garrison Commander, Colonel Legborsi Deedum Nule, representing the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, emphasized the Brigade’s dedication to collaborating with other security agencies to eradicate crime in the state. Colonel Nule reiterated the commitment to maintaining high standards and professionalism among the troops in the discharge of their duties.

Commandant Jane Ibiba Odili of the NDLEA Ogun State Command commended the efforts of the Brigade and called for increased collaboration with the military and other security agencies in the state. The successful interception and arrest underscore the ongoing efforts by security forces to curb the trafficking and distribution of illicit substances, contributing to the broader fight against drug-related crimes in the region.
