The Lagos Free Limb Deformity Corrective Surgery Programme offers life-changing surgeries and rehabilitation to 50 children with lower limb deformities. Since 2007, it has helped over 6,000 children, providing them with essential mobility and support.

 

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Lagos State Government’s Free Limb Deformity Corrective Surgery Programme provides life-changing surgeries and rehabilitation for 50 children with lower limb deformities.

This initiative aims to ease both physical and emotional burdens on affected children and their families.

Since 2007, over 6,000 children have benefitted from this programme, which targets conditions like bow legs and clubfoot.

Recent screenings at Lagos University Teaching Hospital identified candidates who received surgery at Gbagada General Hospital, accompanied by physiotherapy, nutrition counselling, and mobility devices.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, praised the programme’s alignment with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda and its role in improving health outcomes.

The programme coordinator, Dr. Tolulope Ajomale, noted the significant impact on underserved populations. Families are encouraged to seek early medical attention and utilise this free annual initiative, showcasing Lagos’ commitment to a healthier, more inclusive society.
