The bank has donated over ₦1 billion to aid flood relief in Maiduguri, supporting recovery efforts and helping rebuild essential infrastructure
[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ccess Holdings Plc, a leading African financial group, has donated over ₦1 billion to support flood relief efforts in Maiduguri.

The donation, made through its banking arm Access Bank Plc, was announced during a visit to the Borno State Government House by a delegation led by Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, Bolaji Agbede.
The funds will be used to provide both immediate and long-term support to the region, which has been severely impacted by flooding. Access Holdings allocated ₦500 million in cash to help the state government’s response efforts and another ₦500 million to restore critical infrastructure damaged by the flood.
Essential food supplies will also be distributed to assist the most vulnerable members of the community.
Bolaji Agbede reiterated Access Holdings’ commitment to supporting the people of Borno, saying, “At Access Holdings, we believe in positively impacting the communities we serve. This donation is not just about providing funding but about offering immediate relief to those affected and helping to restore essential infrastructure, ensuring long-term resilience for the region.”
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, expressed gratitude for the donation, praising Access Holdings for its swift response.
He noted, “This donation will be judiciously utilised to restore hospitals and essential services, providing comfort to families in distress and helping strengthen our community’s resilience.”
Access Holdings is the first major financial institution to support Borno after the floods, which affected over a million people and displaced tens of thousands.
The company remains committed to collaborating with the Borno State Government and other stakeholders to ensure relief reaches those most in need and the region is positioned for recovery.
