Lagos State Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab urges traders in Oyingbo and Victoria Island to keep drainage channels clear, warning of strict enforcement for non-compliance
In a bid to tackle environmental issues and prevent flooding, Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, led an advocacy campaign engaging traders across Oyingbo, Victoria Island, and other key areas in Lagos.

As the rainy season approaches, Wahab stressed the importance of keeping drainage channels clear and warned traders against placing goods on these vital areas.
He highlighted the direct link between blocked drainage systems and flooding, urging compliance with Lagos State environmental laws to protect lives and property.
“Keeping our drainage systems clear is a collective responsibility,” Wahab stated. “Failure to comply with environmental laws will lead to strict enforcement measures. We must all work together to ensure a cleaner and safer Lagos.”
The advocacy team included officials from the Lagos State Environmental Task Force, health departments, and other ministry representatives, all committed to promoting environmental responsibility.
