The Nigerian production, featuring a talented cast, opened to critical acclaim in Pretoria on February 27th, marking the start of a two-week tour at the invitation of the South African State Theatre.

This partnership between Bolanle Austen-Peters Productions and the South African State Theatre aims to bridge cultural gaps through the power of theatre.

“We are using this collaboration to bridge cultural gaps,” stated Mrs. Austen-Peters, director and producer of the play. “The reception was electrifying,” she added, promising “two weeks of extreme excellence on stage.”

The opening night was a sold-out event, attended by dignitaries including the Acting Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, His Excellency, Temitope Ajayi; the Chief Executive Officer of the South African State Theatre, Sibongiseni Mkhize; and the Artistic Director of the South African State Theatre, Aubrey Sekhat.

This tour marks the second time BAP Productions has performed in South Africa, following the successful tour of “Saro The Musical” in 2022.

Approximately a dozen performances of “Dear Kaffi” are scheduled, with daily shows since Saturday, March 1st. The tour is set to culminate with a grand finale on Sunday, March 9th.

“Dear Kaffi – Kike’s Story” tells the compelling tale of Kikelomo Olota, a 35-year-old single woman navigating life, love, and societal pressures in Lagos.

The Nigerian cast includes Uzo Osimkpa (Kike), Yewande Osamein (Tolani), Abiola Lepe (Bidemi), Sharon Onyegbula (Shalewa), Ralph Okoro (Tamuno), Hector Amiwero (Debo), Obiora Maduegbuna (Debo), Floyd Igbo (Femi), Bimbo Manuel (Father), and Bukola Ogunnote (Mother).
