Amosun insists that no one, including Dangote, is above the law and challenges him to provide evidence of due approvals for the structures in question.

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, has dismissed allegations by Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, regarding the demolition of the Dangote Cement factory in Itori, Ogun State.

Dangote, in a viral video from his visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun, accused the Amosun administration of twice demolishing the cement plant, leading to its abandonment until the current administration revived the investment.

He credited Governor Abiodun for creating a business-friendly environment that restored investor confidence.

In response, Amosun, through a statement signed by his media aide Lanre Akinwale, described Dangote’s claims as misleading and insisted that his administration upheld strict regulations on land acquisition and development.

“We appeal to Alhaji Dangote to present the necessary approvals for the structures he claims were demolished. There cannot be two governments in a state, and no one, including Dangote, operates above the law,” the statement read.

Amosun also highlighted his administration’s success in attracting over 500 businesses to Ogun State, earning recognition from the World Bank as one of Nigeria’s top three states for Ease of Doing Business.

He recalled that during the commissioning of the Ibese Cement Factory, Dangote himself praised the government’s investment-friendly policies.

Reaffirming Ogun State’s industrial progress under his leadership, Amosun noted that the state became Nigeria’s “Industrial Capital,” contributing 75% of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the manufacturing sector.

He further urged Dangote to provide proof of legal compliance regarding the demolished structures.

“Not all Nigerians can be compromised, bullied, or blackmailed. Upholding high standards remains our priority, regardless of the consequences,” the statement concluded.
