Alleging fraud in the royal selection, Malomo vows to support peace in Emure and pledges media support for Oba Ajiboye’s coronation

Support peace in Emure was the central message of an open letter by Barrister Oluwatobi Agbajegorite Malomo, who recently lost the royal contest to Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye.

Despite alleging fraud and irregularities in the selection process, Malomo said he had chosen peace over legal action for the love of his town.

Malomo acknowledged the controversy surrounding the royal selection but stressed that unity and progress matter more than any personal ambition.

“We both contested for the royal stool, and it was a hotly contested process,” he wrote.

“Though the selection was marred by fraud and manipulation, I have chosen to accept the result—not out of cowardice, but out of deep love for Emure and a firm commitment to peace.”

The former contender made it clear he would not challenge the outcome in court. He said that doing so would only divide the community further and delay the development Emure desperately needs.

He praised the youths and women of Emure who supported him during the process. Their courage, loyalty and hunger for justice, he said, had inspired him deeply. Still, he urged them to now channel that same energy into supporting the new monarch.

Malomo also used the letter to caution his own royal family, the Abenimota Ruling House.

He accused some members of betrayal, driven by greed and personal interest. He warned that until the family unites, it risks being continually exploited by external forces.

Despite his disappointment, Malomo offered goodwill to Oba Ajiboye.

He promised to personally handle the publicity and media coverage for the coronation ceremony, calling it a gesture of goodwill and a contribution to a smooth transition.

Malomo ended the letter by restating his firm belief in Emure’s potential, urging all stakeholders to rise above bitterness and embrace unity.
