Former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, passed away in London. He remains a towering figure in Nigeria’s political history, having served as both military Head of State and democratically elected President.
SDNON acknowledged his efforts to combat corruption, improve security, and promote governance reforms.
“We recognise President Buhari’s lasting impact on Nigeria’s democratic path and national history,” the group stated.
On the same day, the country also lost the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, a monarch who reigned for 65 years. SDNON described him as a beacon of tradition, wisdom and modern leadership.
“We mourn the departure of this distinguished traditional ruler who significantly shaped Ijebuland, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large,” the statement read.
SDNON extended its condolences to the Buhari family, the royal household of Ijebuland, and the Nigerian people.
