A student of Adekunle Ajasin University was found dead in her off-campus room, allegedly stabbed by her boyfriend. Police have made arrests; protests erupt

Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State The community of Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA) is reeling after the brutal murder of Joy Adeyemi, a student of the Department of Human Kinetics, who was discovered stabbed to death in her off-campus residence over the weekend.

Joy’s decomposing body was found days after she was reportedly killed by her boyfriend, who fled the town after allegedly committing the crime and locking her body in the room.

According to student eyewitnesses, Joy operated a POS business and had been missing since Tuesday. The alarm was raised when neighbours noticed a foul odour coming from her room.

“Her boyfriend killed her on Tuesday and went away with the POS money,” said Kunle, a fellow student.

This shocking incident comes just days after two other AAUA students  Andrel Okah (Department of History and International Studies) and John Abba (Department of Economics)  were allegedly abducted and murdered by their landlord and accomplices.

The primary suspect, identified as Tallex, reportedly died in police custody after his arrest.

In response, angry students protested through the streets of Akungba-Akoko on Saturday, holding placards with messages like “Stop Killing Us” and “Say No to Student Killings.”

The protestors demanded urgent intervention from the Ondo State Government and security agencies.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee issued a 24-hour ultimatum for justice, stating:

“We strongly condemn these heinous acts and demand immediate action from the state and law enforcement,” signed by Chairman Adekanye Adeboye and Secretary Oladele Emmanuel.

Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed that three suspects have been arrested and that efforts are underway to apprehend Joy’s fleeing boyfriend.
