PDP 2027 presidential ticket has been zoned to the South as NEC adopts zoning report, reinforcing party unity before the November convention

PDP 2027 presidential ticket has officially been zoned to the South, following a major decision by the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at its 102nd meeting in Abuja.

The resolution came after members unanimously adopted the zoning committee report presented by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, explained that the zoning arrangement aligns with the party’s long-standing rotational principle.

With the office of the National Chairman retained in the North, the presidential ticket will shift to the South ahead of the 2027 elections.

He added that NEC expressed confidence in preparations for the party’s elective convention, scheduled for November, describing the process as smooth and orderly.

The decision is seen as a strategic boost to party cohesion, as it sends a strong signal of stability and respect for internal agreements.

Political analysts believe this zoning arrangement could energize the PDP’s southern base while also reducing internal conflict ahead of primaries.

By reaffirming its zoning principle, the PDP has not only strengthened unity within its ranks but also projected an image of consistency in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
