Tinubu says Nigeria’s economy is now stable and globally respected, crediting bold reforms and citizen support for progress

Tinubu Nigeria Economy reforms have begun yielding results, according to President Bola Tinubu, who affirmed that the country’s financial health is improving and attracting renewed global attention.

Speaking at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday during a visit from the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, and other royal dignitaries, Tinubu declared:

“The bleeding has stopped. Haemorrhage is gone; the patient is alive.”

The statement reflects the President’s confidence in his administration’s economic strategies, which include the removal of fuel subsidies, foreign exchange reforms, and anti-smuggling campaigns.

He blamed years of neglect, corruption, and fake economic reporting for Nigeria’s previous decline.

“We had to take those actions. With your prayers, patience, and understanding, I’m glad to tell you today that the economy is stabilised,” Tinubu said.

Highlighting his focus on inclusive development, Tinubu referenced the creation of NELFUND, aimed at preventing Nigerian students from dropping out of school due to poverty.

“Education is the greatest weapon you can give to human beings against poverty,” he emphasized.

Oba Ghandi Olaoye praised the President’s reforms as “bold and necessary,” noting visible effects in fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange reforms.

He also celebrated the revival of the long-abandoned Oyo-Ogbomosho Road, describing it as vital for economic expansion toward the North.

However, the monarch sought intervention in critical areas including power, water, and healthcare infrastructure in Ogbomosoland.

He urged Tinubu to upgrade the general hospital into a Federal Medical Centre and establish a research institute focused on the region’s famed mango and cashew production.

Tinubu promised to engage key ministers to address the requests and reaffirmed his vision of making Nigeria self-sufficient in agriculture and innovation.

He also acknowledged notable Ogbomoso appointees in his administration, including Zacch Adedeji (FIRS Chairman) and Debo Adedokun (DG, Bureau of Public Procurement).
