Progressive Governors Forum meeting tackles key issues

Progressive Governors Forum meeting in Kebbi addresses pressing national and APC matters in a closed-door session chaired by Governor Uzodimma

The closed-door session, held at the Council Chamber of the Kebbi State Government House, was chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

It brought together APC governors under the umbrella of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), marking a significant moment for party cohesion and policy alignment.

While no official briefing followed the meeting, insiders suggest that pressing national issues, political strategy, and internal party dynamics dominated the agenda.

Discussions are expected to shape the party’s direction ahead of critical national milestones.

Although present in Kebbi, newly appointed APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda did not attend the PGF meeting.

His office confirmed that he was in the state for other engagements, including the inauguration of the Tinubu Kauran Gwandu Movement for Continuity State Secretariat.

Yilwatda, in a statement released earlier on Thursday, noted that while he would not be participating in the PGF deliberations, he remained aligned with the Forum’s vision.

“Over the next two days, APC governors will engage in closed-door sessions to deliberate on critical national and party matters. As a party, we remain committed to unity, good governance, and the Renewed Hope vision for all Nigerians,” he wrote.

The Progressive Governors Forum meeting is seen as an important platform for coordination among APC governors, especially at a time when national unity, economic challenges, and party discipline demand collective focus.

Though the outcomes of the Kebbi meeting remain under wraps, political watchers will be keen to see how the Forum’s discussions influence party policy and national governance in the months ahead.
