Presidential Amnesty Programme distributes laptops to 2024/2025 scholarship beneficiaries in Nigerian universities, says administrator Dennis Otuaro

Presidential Amnesty Programme has commenced the second phase of laptop distribution to its 2024/2025 scholarship beneficiaries across Nigerian universities, as part of efforts to enhance academic performance and digital learning.

The initiative, announced in a statement by the PAP administrator Dr Dennis Otuaro through his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Igoniko Oduma, underscores the programme’s commitment to supporting education and research among students.

Otuaro explained that the decision to provide laptops stemmed from their importance in academic work and overall student success. “This gesture is in fulfilment of my promise to the scholarship beneficiaries during my tour of partnering universities in 2024,” he said.

He expressed optimism that the distribution would aid learning and research, urging students to make good use of the devices and “justify the Federal Government’s huge investment” in their education.

The administrator advised beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and to avoid actions that could derail their academic and personal goals.

“PAP will continue to support you, the beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme, to achieve academic excellence,” he assured.

According to the statement, the first phase of the exercise, held between April and May 2025, benefited more than 663 final-year scholarship students.

That phase also included a physical verification and orientation programme for new beneficiaries under the 2024/2025 academic session.

Reaffirming his commitment to the programme’s core objectives, Otuaro said his leadership remained dedicated to promoting the socio-economic advancement of the Niger Delta in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He praised the President for his sustained support, describing it as a sign of “sincere love for the region and a strong desire to close the human capital development gap.”

Otuaro also encouraged youths in the Niger Delta to reciprocate the President’s gesture by maintaining peace and contributing to the region’s sustainable development.

The Presidential Amnesty Programme was established to rehabilitate and empower youths from the Niger Delta region, focusing on education, skills acquisition, and reintegration to ensure long-term stability and growth.
