Wema Bank wins big with a fourth straight Nigeria Bankers Game title, securing nine gold medals and setting a new industry record.
Wema Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Moruf Oseni on Sunday led celebrations after the institution emerged Overall Winner of the Nigeria Bankers Game 2025, marking the fourth consecutive year that Wema Bank wins big at the nationwide sporting competition.

The victory, achieved with nine gold medals, sets a new industry record and reinforces the bank’s reputation for performance and innovation.
Wema Bank secured gold in a wide range of events including female table tennis categories, volleyball, scrabble, video gaming, the 100 metres and 200 metres female sprints, and the 4×100 metres female relay.
The medal haul underscored the bank’s consistency and competitive strength across both team and individual events.
One of the highlights of the tournament was the recognition of Wema Bank employee Oluwaseun Adewunmi as the Overall Outstanding Athlete of the Nigeria Bankers Game 2025.
Her commanding display across multiple disciplines earned widespread admiration and placed her among the competition’s most disciplined and resilient performers.
Mr Oseni described the bank’s fourth straight championship as a moment of profound pride, especially as the institution celebrates its eightieth anniversary.
He said the achievement reflected a culture rooted in excellence, focus and determination, adding that the athletes embodied the values that define Wema Bank’s enduring identity.
He praised staff members who represented the bank with what he called passion, grit and unwavering commitment, noting that their efforts had created history.
Ms Adewunmi expressed gratitude for the award and said the recognition belonged to the entire team. She described the experience as deeply fulfilling and credited the bank for offering the support and encouragement that enabled athletes to perform at their peak.
