Anambra APC backs Tinubu for 2027 and vows to work with APGA to secure 95% of votes in the state, party chairman says

The All Progressives Congress in Anambra State on Tuesday declared its support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and pledged to work with the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance to secure 95 per cent of the state’s votes.

The Anambra State Chairman of the APC, Basil Ejidike, made the declaration at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Awka, the state capital, where party leaders gathered to deliberate on internal preparations ahead of forthcoming congresses.

Ejidike said the party was already engaging with APGA to ensure overwhelming support for Tinubu in the next presidential contest.

“We are working with the ruling APGA to make sure that we deliver 95 per cent of Anambra votes to the APC and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential Election,” Ejidike told party members.

The chairman formally moved a motion at the meeting for the adoption of Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate for 2027.

The motion was seconded by prominent party figures, including Nicholas Ukachukwu, the APC governorship candidate for the 8 November election in Anambra, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

The Anambra APC backs Tinubu resolution comes as the party intensifies efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure ahead of both state and national polls.

Ejidike said the meeting was convened to enable the Congress Harmonising Committee to organise members at unit, ward and local government levels in preparation for the ward congress scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

Speaking at the gathering, Ukachukwu stressed the importance of unity and discipline within the party, warning that internal discord could undermine electoral ambitions.

“Anambra APC will grow when the right things are done,” Ukachukwu said, adding that members joined the party to build it rather than create division.

Ukachukwu also criticised the practice of party stalwarts defecting to other political platforms and later seeking to reclaim former positions upon return, arguing that such actions discouraged loyalty and fairness within the party structure.

The Anambra APC backs Tinubu declaration signals an early consolidation of support in the South-East state as political manoeuvring gradually gathers pace ahead of the 2027 general election.
