Ooni Gbenga Daniel Tribute celebrates the senator’s 70th birthday, highlighting his leadership, service, and contributions to society
The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, has congratulated Senator Gbenga Daniel on his 70th birthday, describing him as a distinguished statesman and a proud son of the Oduduwa lineage.

In a royal message issued from the House of Oduduwa, the monarch celebrated Senator Daniel, the Fesojoye of Ife, for a life marked by diligence, courage, and purposeful leadership.
The Ooni expressed “deep joy and royal pride” in honouring the milestone, noting that the celebrant’s journey reflects enduring service to humanity and commitment to development.
The monarch recalled that the House of Oduduwa recognised Senator Daniel’s leadership potential early, leading to his installation as Fesojoye of Ife in 1992.
According to the Ooni, that recognition foreshadowed a remarkable rise to prominence in Ogun State and across Nigeria’s political landscape.
Highlighting his public service, the Ooni described Senator Daniel’s tenure as Governor of Ogun State as a defining period characterised by progressive policies, infrastructural transformation, and initiatives that improved the welfare of citizens.
He added that the senator’s contributions extend beyond politics into entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and mentorship of younger generations.
The Ooni Gbenga Daniel Tribute also underscored the senator’s enduring influence within traditional institutions and national life, portraying him as a respected figure whose legacy continues to inspire.
