The United States Mission in Nigeria has restated the strength of its long-standing relationship with Nigeria, pointing to deep and enduring partnership between the two nations.

In a statement posted on its X handle on Monday, April 20, 2026, the Mission stressed that the partnership goes beyond official government engagements and is driven by strong ties at multiple levels.
“The United States and Nigeria share deep ties in security, trade, health, education, and culture, and these people-to-people connections remain strong and vital to our shared prosperity,” the Mission said.
It noted that the relationship is anchored on shared interests that support development and stability, with both countries continuing to work together on regional and global challenges.
The Mission highlighted that collaboration in areas such as counterterrorism, trade facilitation, education exchange programmes and public health initiatives remains central to the partnership.

Beyond government-to-government relations, the United States Mission emphasised that connections between citizens, academic institutions and private sector actors continue to deepen, thereby strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
